Two independent channels accept proximity-probe or magnetic-pick-up inputs to deliver:

rotor acceleration / deceleration
zero-speed & reverse-rotation detection
conditioned Keyphasor® pulse to the 3500 back-plane
The card is NOT a primary overspeed-protection device; for API-612 redundant trip use 3500/53.
