GE IS220PPROH1A is a “Backup Turbine Protection I/O Pack” designed by General Electric for the Speedtronic Mark VIe gas- and steam-turbine control system.
It provides a completely independent, redundant protection path parallel to the main controller and acts as the last line of hardware defense for safe unit operation.
ü Independent protection logic – hardware-based overspeed detection and trip output; no reliance on the main CPU.
ü Dual Ethernet ports – plugs directly into the Mark VIe I/O ring, simplex or TMR architectures supported.
ü Dedicated speed inputs – accepts acceleration, deceleration and overspeed switch / frequency signals.
ü Generator synchronism check – compares grid vs. machine voltage, frequency and phase; issues its own permissive to close.
ü Watch-dog & diagnostics – continuously monitors main-controller health; alarms and initiates safety action on fault.
ü Hot-swap – online replacement possible without shutting down the turbine.
ü Terminal-board pairing – normally used with TREAH_A board; allows up to 1 000 ft (18 AWG) field speed-sensor cabling.
